The District 10 Trustee position for the VFW National Home for Children has an immediate opening for an interim Trustee for the remainder of the 2021-2022 Board Year. Interested candidates should follow the below instructions and submit letters of recommendation by November 8th, 2021 to the National Home. This District will also have an opening for 2022-2028 year, same instructions as below. Any person who is interested in running for the interim position is also available to run for the full term of the position.

Enclosed below (and additionally attached as a message) to this email are the requirements for the Board of Trustees open position for District #10, including Arkansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas, of which you represent. Please make readily available to any and all departments  and/or personal that may inquire of this information. Candidate Qualifications and Guidelines

District 10 (Arkansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas)

 

VFW National Home District Trustees hold a vital and prestigious position with a mandate to oversee, guide, promote and support the VFW National Home for Children.  The newly elected District 10 Trustee will serve with 11 other elected National Home District Trustees and 5 ex-officio Trustees that include;  the VFW Commander-in-Chief, the Adjutant General, the Quartermaster General, the National President and the National Secretary/Treasurer. 

 

VFW and VFW Auxiliary members seeking candidacy must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a Life Member of the VFW National Home for Children for at least one year prior to nomination and
  • Be a member in good standing of the Veterans of Foreign Wars or its Auxiliary and
  • Be a resident of the National Home District which he/she represents OR reside within a 50-mile commuting distance of the National Home District and
  • Obtain the written endorsement* of his or her respective Department or Department Auxiliary *The Department Commander and Adjutant or President and Secretary should personally sign the endorsement letter OR include a Cc line notifying each other of the written endorsement.

 

Written nominations for candidates to run for District 10 Trustee of the VFW National Home for Children Board of Trustees shall be submitted on or before June 1, 2022 to the attention of the Executive Director of the VFW National Home for Children.

The written nomination must include the following requirements:

  • Aforementioned Written Endorsement.
  • Candidate Biography including candidate’s qualifications - no more than 200 words in length. 
  • All nomination materials must include the candidate’s:
    • Post or Auxiliary affiliation
    • address
    • phone number(s)
    • email address

 

The VFW National Home for Children Board of Trustees meets up to 4 times annually.
